2003 Campaign: Message from the Chair

Message from Jim Byerlotzer, 2003 Campaign Chair
Photo - Jim Byerlotzer It is my honor to serve as Chairman of the 2003 United Way Campaign. This organization has been a vital part of Midland for 56 years, serving so many members of the community in a variety of ways. As I have toured various United Way funded programs and seen them in action, I have been deeply touched by those who benefit from the programs and services. I have seen first-hand just how important the United Way Program Providers are to our community.

I became involved in United Way several years ago when I was contacted in a past campaign by a dedicated United Way volunteer. While I found it easy to make a dollar contribution, I was humbled by the generosity of those in my company for whom a financial contribution was a great sacrifice. The employees of my company understood exactly what United Way Program Providers offered, since many of them had been the beneficiaries of some of the services. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, Red Cross, YMCA... so many programs that are an integral part of life in a successful community.

The citizens of Midland have a reputation for being generous. Past campaigns have seen contributions that have enabled United Way to fund programs for children, for senior citizens and for disaster relief. Over the next few months I encourage all of my fellow Midlanders to participate in the 2003 campaign so that United Way can continue to provide effective solutions to community needs. Whichever of the programs is most meaningful to you — programs offered by Community and Senior Services, Casa de Amigos, The Salvation Army, or any of the many other programs; give generously. Help United Way make a difference and help Midland remain the compassionate and caring community that we all are proud to be a part of.
