Campaign Finale
United Way of Midland announced a to-date campaign total of $3,000,112 during the "Community Matters" campaign finale event on November 2. This event was held downtown at the Midland Center, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Event sponsors were: Atmos Energy, Basic Energy, Citibank Texas, N.A., Henry Petroleum, Key Energy, Midland Memorial Hospital, Nabors Well Services, Ltd., Oxy Permian, and Pure Resources.
Frank Stowers, 2005 Campaign Chair, with the help of the 2nd grade class from Santa Rita Elementary, made the announcement to an enthusiastic audience of over 300 United Way donors, volunteers and friends.
"Even though the $3.25 million goal was not met during the initial phase of the campaign, this has been a very positive campaign because Midlanders truly shared their blessings and recognized that Midland truly does matter with initial results of $3,000,112. When disaster struck their friends and family in other cities and states - Midlanders gave. When United Way staff and volunteers asked them to invest locally in their community - Midlanders gave. This is a truly remarkable and generous community and one we all should be proud to call home.
The official window of the community campaign may have come to an end - but the fundraising isn't over. There are numerous companies that are still conducting internal campaigns, and we are counting on them and others to join our donors who already have given. The total we announced today is what has been raised to date to support the Midland community and it does show that Midlanders know what truly matters. Thank you for caring, and sharing!
With Midland's generosity, we will continue to deliver help and hope to those who need it most. United Way of Midland invests in local programs that help kids succeed, strengthen and support families, assist with basic and emergency needs, and promote health, wellness and independence."
