2007 Campaign Kickoff
Students from DeZavala Elementary hosted the 2007 United Way of Midland Campaign Kickoff along with the Midland High School Band, Superintendent Dr. Sylvester Perez, Interim City Manager Tommy Hudson, Midland Chamber of Commerce M-Squad Ambassadors and dozens more of United Way supporters and program providers. This campaign marks the 60th Anniversary for United Way of Midland.
Charles Spence, who is serving as Campaign Chair for his third time, said
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Chairman of the 2007 United Way Campaign, working with hundreds of volunteers and support staff to share a message of hope for many in our community who need assistance. We are blessed in this great city with people who have a rich and wonderful history of reaching out to their neighbors who need help. Through your contributions to United Way, you ensure adequate resources for 62 targeted programs that provide valuable services to thousands of Midlanders. These programs help our kids succeed, promote health wellness and independence, strengthen and support our families and they assist with our most basic and emergency needs.
As we begin the campaign with excitement, anticipation and joy, please accept our appreciation and gratitude for your support, encouragement and prayers as we commit to raising $3.45 million dollars to meet the needs of our community. Through your giving spirit and the dedication and commitment of our volunteers, we will exceed this goal and celebrate on November 12.
Thanks for all you do to make Midland a better place!
Once the goal was revealed by the students of DeZavala, the crowd released a rainbow of balloons into the sky, signaling to the city United Way is campaigning for Midland!
