Education Self-Sufficiency Health

United Way of Midland has the resources, the reach and the experience to handle the big issues of our community.  To make Midland a better place to live and work, our efforts are focused on education, self-sufficiency and health: the building blocks of a good life. 

Fiscal agent for any Funded Program, Community Initiative, or Community Grant must be:

  • 501(C) 3 Nonprofit
  • Health and human service organization serving Midland County
  • Governed by a local volunteer board

NOW AVAILABLE FOR HEALTH FOCUS AREA

United Way of Midland funds programs through 3-year funding cycles. This year, applications for programs addressing outcomes in the focus area of Health are available for download. This process is open to all 501 (c) 3 Health and Human Service nonprofit organizations that serve Midland County, are governed by a local board, and have audited financials. All applications are due in the UWM office by 5 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

Organizations currently receiving 2012 program funding in the Education or Self-Sufficiency focus areas are required to complete and submit the following documents to the UWM office by 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

Collaborative effort (3 or more partners) that addresses an identified United Way of Midland Community outcome in one of the three Focus Areas: education, self-sufficiency and health

Additional Requirements:  Fiscal agent must have audited financials

COMMUNITY GRANTS

2011 Community Grant Application Information

The United Way of Midland Community Grant Program provides support to nonprofit health and human service organizations for immediate and creative responses to pressing identified needs in our community. Through this program, one-year Community Grants (up to $25,000) will be allocated for the following:

  • A new or expanded (significant growth in number of recipients or services) innovative program or a one-time project (excludes capital improvement) that addresses one of the Community Outcomes identified by United Way of Midland
  • Technical Assistance (up to 80 hours of consultation) - provided by the Nonprofit Management Center

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum criteria for eligible organizations:

  • Offer health and human service programs in Midland County
  • Be recognized by IRS as a civic or charitable organization
  • Be governed by a local, volunteer Board of Directors
