Give to Something You Care About
United Way is addressing Midland’s most critical needs with a goal of maximum impact. We work with a broad range of local partners such as government, businesses, residents and other service organizations to assess and identify the needs of the community. Based on these needs, United Way develops initiatives, supports collaborations, funds programs, convenes experts and fosters new and needed community services.

Our work is organized around three focus areas:

EDUCATION
Help children and youth achieve their full potential.
United Way of Midland funds 14 programs that work to:

  • Make sure every child is school ready
  • Increase high school graduation rates
  • Help youth gain the life skills to succeed

SELF-SUFFICIENCY
Help families and individuals to take care of themselves.
United Way of Midland funds 15 programs that work to:

  • Help families reduce debt and manage their finances effectively
  • Make sure Midlanders in crisis have access to emergency and basic need services
  • Increase availability of affordable housing in safe neighborhoods

HEALTH
Help everyone to be healthy.
United Way of Midland funds 18 programs that work to:

  • Teach youth and adults to avoid risky behavior
  • Help individuals and families to be physically and emotionally healthy
  • Make sure people in crisis have access to health and counseling services

Lifetime Gifts Matter
United Way of Midland’s commitment to care for our community continues far beyond the needs of this year or this generation. An endowed or planned gift to United Way is an investment in our future. Planned gifts assure that we will continue making Midland strong and healthy for our children and our grandchildren. Your generosity to future generations can also benefit you and your family. Most planned gifts result in immediate tax deductions, estate tax savings and some result in investment income for the donor. But most importantly, your gift ensures that your compassion makes a difference today and extends beyond tomorrow.

FINANCIAL GIVING LEVELS

Leadership Giving
Leadership givers set the course for others. In our community, many generous and caring individuals have partnered with United Way of Midland to change lives. By making an annual contribution of $1,000 or 1.5% of their income, Leadership Givers are an integral part of our efforts to address Midland’s needs.

Alexis De Tocqueville Society of Midland
Tocqueville Society members are exceptional individuals who share significant resources that help implement United Way’s coordinated response to community needs.

This philanthropic group was named by United Way of America for the Frenchman Alexis Charles Henri Maurice Clérel de Tocqueville, who critiqued our country’s evolving political and social structure in Democracy in America (1835 and 1840) and declared himself most impressed with Americans’ generosity.

In 2010, the ADT Society of Midland had 47 Members.
