Community Impact
The Community Impact Division works side by side with a broad range of local partners such as government, businesses, residents and other service organizations to help solve our communities most pressing issues. We work with these partners to set priorities and develop comprehensive strategies to identify and assess the needs of the community. We then provide this assessment information to the United Way of Midland Community Investment Division so that United Way funding is linked to the prioritized needs of Midlanders.
The Community Impact Division promotes community collaboration and helps shape community-building initiatives by being the catalyst for change in Midland County.

Midland Introspective 2007 Community Needs Assessment
Midland Introspective, the 2007 Community Needs Assessment, is a powerful tool to assist those who serve the people of Midland in providing solutions for real community needs. During the spring of 2007, 100 health and human service professionals representing 72 different organizations/programs participated in a process to self-evaluate our communitys strengths and challenges in the health and human services arena. On June 6th, the results were outlined at the Midland Introspective 2007 Presentation Breakfast, sponsored by Citibank. The
Executive Summary includes a description of the process and the four primary focus areas identified. The Community Priorities Report includes the target issues, objectives and strategies determined for each focus area. Also presented were the Proposed Next Steps which include the identification of a Task Force Leader and the formation of Task Force Teams for each focus area and/or target issue. Health and human service professionals, board members, and other community volunteers are encouraged to complete a Commitment Form indicating their interest in serving on one of the teams. This report was created to be a springboard for collective, strategic action. It is anticipated that community organizations committed to carrying this work forward will collaborate to refine action plans and work toward their implementation.

Permian Basin Area Foundation was awarded a $5 million grant from the Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund of the California Community Foundation in January to provide funding to nonprofit organizations that support soldiers deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.
Permian Basin Area Foundation will respond to funding needs in the western part of Texas in collaboration with The Dallas Foundation and San Antonio community Foundation, which will make grants for services in north-eastern and south-eastern Texas, respectively. Under the banner of the "TRIAD Fund," the three Texas community foundations plan to distribute approximately $5 million each, a total of $15 million over a two-year period beginning in early 2007. In addition to the grant from California Community Foundation, Permian Basin Area Foundation will accept gifts from donors wishing to add to the support of U.S. troops and their families.
For applications and additional information, please visit the TRIAD Fund website or call the Permian Basin Area Foundation at (432) 682-4704.
