Emerson Elementary 2nd Grade Students to Raise Money for United Way of Midland with Lemonade Stand
October 1, 2003 - Midland, TX Emerson Elementary (2800 Moss Ave.) 2nd Grade students will sell lemonade to classmates, teachers and school staff to raise funds for United Way of Midland on October 3rd, 2003.
The students will sell lemonade on the Emerson Elementary campus, on October 3rd, at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:15 pm. The media is encouraged to come and talk to the children and teachers involved. For security reasons, media representatives are asked to call the school at 689-1790 and let them know they are coming.
It is great to see children working together to raise money for a good cause, said Beki Moorehead, United Way of Midland Campaign Director, These kids understand that the money goes to organizations that impact their lives and the lives of their classmates, such as: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Campfire and YMCA. It is good for them to learn about giving to their community at such a young age.
Funds raised during the 2003 Campaign will go to approved health and human service programs. United Way of Midland is currently funding 59 local programs through 23 program providers. A listing of these programs can be found here.
United Way of Midland assesses the health and human service needs in Midland County and addresses those needs through the raising and distributing of funds to qualified 501(c)(3) health and human service programs. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
