United Way of Midland Volunteers Will Meet to Determine Which Local Programs Will Receive 2003 Campaign Funds
November 18, 2003 - Midland, TX United Way of Midland Community Investment Cabinet will meet Thursday, November 20th from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm at the United Way Office to discuss applications for United Way funding from local health and human service programs.
Over 60 applications for United Way funding were received in August of 2003. Volunteer Review Panels have reviewed these applications by studying the programs, the budget information and conducting on-site visits. On Thursday, November 20, representatives from these panels will recommend to the Community Investment Cabinet which programs should receive funding along with funding amounts. The Cabinet will then bring these recommendations together in a cohesive, consistent manner and present them to the United Way Board of Directors for approval in December of 2003. United Way of Midland will announce the 2004 program providers following the board meeting.
The purpose of the Community Investment Division, consisting of Volunteer Review Panels and the Community Investment Cabinet, is to operate an effective and systematic volunteer process for allocating funds raised in the annual United Way campaign. These volunteers invest campaign funds in local programs addressing high priority needs and then review and monitor these programs for results.
To learn more about this funding process or to schedule an appointment to speak with a Community Investment Volunteer, please contact Alison King at 685-7716.
