OXY Permian and Washington Elementary Join Together for Paper Airplane Toss Fundraiser for United Way
October 12, 2004 - Midland, TX OXY Permian will hold their 2nd Annual Paper Airplane Toss Fundraiser for United Way of Midland on Wednesday, October 13th at 2:45 pm at the ClayDesta Atrium (6 Desta Drive). The official launching site for airplanes is the west corner of the second floor. The paper airplane closest to the target on the 1st floor will be declared the winner. The cost to fly a plane is $2.00 for the first flight and $1 for each additional flight.
Prior to the fundraiser, Washington Elementary Math Students will have their own competition from 1:45 to 2:45 as part of an Aeronautics lesson. Confederate Air force volunteers will be on hand to assist the students in the creation of their planes.
The Oxy Paper Airplane Toss Fundraiser is open to the public. Proceeds will go to the United Way of Midland 2004 Campaign.
The United Way of Midland Campaign kicked off on September 7th and will run through October 29th. Funds raised during the 2004 Campaign will go to approved health and human service programs. United Way of Midland is currently funding 59 local programs through 25 program providers. A listing of these programs can be found here. United Way of Midland assesses the health and human service needs in Midland County and addresses those needs through the raising and distributing of funds to qualified 501(c)(3) health and human service programs. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
