City of Midland Managers Kiss Pigs and Take a Pie in the Eye for United Way
October 21, 2004 - Midland, TX City of Midland employees raised $21,856 for United Way of Midland and will celebrate this success during their campaign finale and lunch on Friday, October 22 at Centennial Plaza in downtown Midland. The event will begin at 11:45 am.
COM employees began their United Way Campaign with a challenge between departments. Managers of COM winning departments (departments with the highest level of campaign participation and/or dollars donated) won the challenge and get to enjoy watching their counterparts in departments with lower participation percentages either kiss a pig or take a pie in the eye. Employees receiving the pie or giving the kisses include Police Chief John Urby and Finance Director Bob McNaughton.
&Mac183; This healthy competition encouraged employees to participate in the United Way Campaign. The real winners are the over 33,000 Midlanders that benefit from United Way of Midland programs each year.
The United Way of Midland Campaign kicked off on September 7th and will run through October 29th. Funds raised during the 2004 Campaign will go to approved health and human service programs. United Way of Midland is currently funding 59 local programs through 25 program providers. A listing of these programs can be found here.
