United Way to Acknowledge 2007-2008 Funding Recipients and Thank United Way Volunteers
May 29, 2007 - Midland, TX United Way of Midland will hold their Community Investment Reception, Thursday, May 31 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the Petroleum Club. This event is sponsored by EGL Resources, Inc., InWest Retirement Solutions, Midland Memorial Hospital, and OXY Permian.
United Way of Midland will acknowledge programs receiving 2007-2008 funding and thank Community Investment volunteers. The event begins at 4:00 and the presentation will be from 4:30 4:45 p.m.
United Way of Midland received a total of 63 applications for 2007/2008 program funding from 25 local non-profits. These requests amounted to over 2.6 million dollars. From March through May, over 50 Community Investment Panel volunteers met to review the applications, make on-site visits with the program providers, and then met again to make recommendations for funding. The final recommendations were voted on by the United Way of Midland Board of Directors on May 17.
United Way of Midland assesses the health and human service needs in Midland County and addresses those needs through the raising and distributing of funds to qualified 501(c)(3) health and human service programs. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
