City of Midland Employees to host Barbeque Lunch to benefit United Way of Midland
August 29, 2007 - Midland, TX The City of Midland Employees are helping to get the 2007 United Way of Midland geared up for a great campaign year. They have already begun their employee Pacesetter Campaign before the Community Kickoff date of September 6th. To raise additional funds they are hosting a barbeque lunch from 11:30 am to 1:00pm on Friday, August 17, 2007 in the Midland Police Department basement (601 N. Loraine). Cost of lunch is $6 per plate.
Last year, city employees contributed over $17,000 for the United Way of Midland through fundraisers and employee pledges. Campaign coordinators expect to raise even more this year.
Funds raised during the 2007 Campaign will go to approved health and human service programs. United Way of Midland is currently funding 62 local programs through 25 program providers. A listing of these programs can be found at www.uwmidland.org.
United Way of Midland assesses the health and human service needs in Midland County and addresses those needs through the raising and distributing of funds to qualified 501(c)(3) health and human service programs. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.
