Midland Area High School Students to invest $21,878 in United Way of Midland Programs on April 2
March 27, 2008 - Midland, TX On Wednesday, April 2, the allocation phase of United Way of Midlands Youth Campaign will take place from 11 am to 3:30 pm at Golf Course Road Church of Christ Family Building (second floor) at 3500 West Golf Course Road.
Students from the following schools were invited to participate: Midland High School, Midland Freshman, Lee High School, Lee Freshman, Midland Christian School, Coleman High School, and Trinity School. The Midland Independent School District Student Advisory Council will also participate.
The participating students will learn about United Way and the 62 currently funded programs before they make on-site visits to four program providers; Midland Fair Havens, Safe Place, Midland Rape Crisis Center, and Community Childrens Clinic. After the site visits, students will discuss and decide how to best allocate the $21,878 raised during the fall 2007 United Way Youth Campaign.
United Way of Midland strongly believes in teaching local youth the importance of investing in their community. The Youth Campaign involves local students in the raising and investing of funds to meet community needs. The allocation phase gives local high school students the chance to advance the common good by supporting programs that create opportunities for a better life for all.

- 11 am - Lunch and Presentations
- 1 pm - On-site Program Provider Visits
- 2:15 pm - Return to Golf Course Church for Student Discussion
- 3 pm - Allocation Decisions Finalized
