West Texas Food Bank Warehouse Sorting and Processing:

Description- The West Texas Food Bank receives food and donations from 16 different agencies every day. In order to distribute these donations before they expire, we need to sort and process them to ensure that they are safe for distribution! Groups and individuals will work together to sort and/or pack produce, nonperishable foods and household items, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include labeling cans, packing bags of food and household items, sanitizing packages and checking for expiration dates, opened packages and spoilage.

Where- West Texas Food Bank, Midland Warehouse (1604 Westcliff Dr, Midland, TX 79703)

When- Tuesday, June 26th from 1-4pm

  • Lunch hosted by UWM and On-site and Facility Tour (1-1:45pm)
  • Warehouse Sorting & Processing (1:45-4pm)

This volunteer opportunity is open to the public! They can host up to 70 volunteers at once.

Age Requirement- 14 and up (without supervision). Those 6 to 13 years of age must have adult supervision. Children under 6 years of age can enjoy the playground if a parent is present. 

Dress Code- Due to safety concerns, all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandal or flip flops) and cloths appropriate to work in a warehouse environment.
