Our Commitment to Inclusive Excellence

Inclusive Excellence is at the heart of what it means to LIVE UNITED. As a champion for building strong and healthy communities, United Way of Midland values diversity. We believe all people should have an opportunity to make an impact in society. It is through the collective efforts of individuals in our communities that we create a responsible and vibrant society - one which respects, honors and thrives on the unique attributes of its members.

As a human services organization continuously seeking to deliver community impact and maintain quality service to our donors, community partners and clients, United Way of Midland is committed to incorporating practices that enhance diversity into all areas of activity, including the recruitment and retention of board members, staff, partners, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds. United Way of Midland will create and maintain an environment that enables all people to perform to their potential. We will effectively manage and utilize inclusiveness so that it is a natural part of how we function.

United Way of Midland Inclusive Excellence Mission Statement:

Inclusive Excellence reflects the understanding that diversity, equity, and inclusion lead to organizational excellence and are to be invited and integrated into the very core of our daily work and practices. Our mission is to educate, equip, and activate community members and partners to create an equitable, respectful, and opportunity-filled community for everyone.

United Way of Midland Inclusive Excellence Vision Statement:

Our vision is to ensure the community is equipped with the tools they need to live their best life from cradle to career, especially understanding the systemic barriers that exist because of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, size, education, and/or socio-economic status. We do this through the introduction of accountability checkpoints with our partners and their clients, sustained action with and education of partners and individuals in our community, and open collaboration and communication with other equity-focused organizations, government entities, nonprofits, and community members.
